Power Method to Eliminate Fruit Flies in House
Do you have fruit flies in house and kitchen? Getting rid of them can be hard, but here are some tricks that will make it a lot easier.
I guess everyone of us has had fruit flies in their house at one time or another, especially in the summer months and in the fall. At first it's only a few, two or three, but sometimes within minutes there will be a lot more. And soon you'll face a whole swarm of fruit flies – and you'll have to get rid of them because they get annoying and it's disgusting to have them feed on your fruits and vegetables. It might seem like rolling a stone uphill at first, they seem to be reproducing faster than you can swat them. But worry not, there are a few simple steps that will make the whole process of killing fruit flies in house areas a lot easier. Fruit Flies in House: Find the Source Fruit flies in house areas are attracted by decaying stuff. Sounds disgusting? Well, for them a wet dishrag or a brown, overripe banana is a feast. They like anything that is close to spoiling: a bottle of beer left out from yesterday, a mushy tomato or an open garbage can. So the first step is to check your house for anything that could be their source of food. A simple apple juice stain could lure a whole fruit fly army into your home. But often one fly is enough. They reproduce incredibly fast, a female can lay about 500 eggs that hatch in just 30 hours. Imagine how much there could be after a day or two! Eliminate their source of food (which is also where they breed), wipe down all counters and the fridge and throw out the trash. Give them no reason to stay or come back and you'll be much closer to getting rid of fruit flies in house areas and keeping them away. Fruit Flies in House: Build Your Own Natural Traps Now comes the action: finally getting rid of fruit flies in house! Once you've eliminated their breeding ground, you're ready to build some fruit fly traps. Don't think you can do it? Don't worry, it's really easy. And you probably won't even need to buy anything. There are some different types of traps, but most work through the simple principle: lure them in and don't let them get away again. Even the store-bought ones work like that. To build your own funnel trap to get rid of fruit flies in your house, you'll need a bottle or a tall glass, a piece of paper and something to lure them in. Take the bottle or glass and fill it with apple cider vinegar and some liquid dish detergent. The apple cider vinegar will lure the little flies in. The dish soap will break the surface tension of the vinegar. You can use regular vinegar or apple juice, but they won't work as well. After you've added the mixture, make a funnel out of the paper. Simply roll it in on one side and stick it into the bottle or glass. But be careful that it doesn't touch the liquid. Tape it securely to the bottle so it will hold and the fruit flies won't be able to get back out again. Your homemade fruit fly trap is ready and set to go. You can leave it out overnight, but you'll have to throw it out in the morning and make a new batch, or they'll just use it as a new breeding ground. Now you can start catching flies. Depending on the size of the fruit fly infestation, it can take a couple of days to get rid of all fruit flies in house.
